Toitu te whenua, whatungarongaro te tangata Rachel specialises in various aspects of Māori legal work with a particular focus on dispute resolution involving a range of issues including Waitangi Tribunal, disputes before the Māori Land Court and estate litigation. In her work Rachel is committed to ensuring that tikanga is respected and upheld at all times and clients receive a service that incorporates Māori values. Rachel graduated from the University of Otago in 2002 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Māori Studies. She practised in Dunedin for two years specialising in Māori Land Law before joining McCaw Lewis in June 2005, and was appointed an Associate in October 2010. Rachel has been an active member of Te Hunga Roia Māori o Aotearoa (New Zealand Māori Law Society) since 1999 and has previously sat on the National Executive in a variety of roles.
