Gerard, a Hamiltonian by birth, is a member of our Commercial Team.
After graduating from Law School in 1973, Gerard was employed by the Department of Justice then worked for some years for the City Solicitor at Guildhall in the City of London. Returning to New Zealand, he worked for McCaw Lewis between 1979 and 1981, following which he became a Partner in another Hamilton law firm with responsibility ultimately for its commercial/property arm. He returned to McCaw Lewis in 2003 as a Partner, becoming a Consultant in 2013. In almost 40 years of practice, Gerard has been involved in complex and challenging commercial and property transactions. Armed with that experience he currently manages a large client base. He has over the years served on Law Society Committees and undertaken significant pro bono work.
Gerard has the Freedom of the City of London.
