Huia is a Senior Solicitor in the Kahurangi Whenua and Resource Management team and first joined McCaw Lewis as a Law Clerk in 2015.
Huia recently returned to Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato to complete her Master of Laws in Māori/Pacific and Indigenous Peoples’ Law in 2024.
Huia demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering practical, considered and culturally informed legal advice. Her approach is grounded in integrity, professionalism and an understanding of importance of relationships, tikanga Māori and the wider context in which legal issues arise.
As a Māori practitioner, Huia is particularly passionate about contributing to a legal profession that recognises and strengthens the place of te ao Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi within Aotearoa New Zealand’s legal landscape.
Outside of mahi, Huia is a proud Māmā to three vibrant Tamariki and loves to chase an oval ball around the rugby field.
